Hey friends,
Last week, I had a chat with one of my children about the future of work
You hear about AI/robots everywhere. And some jobs may disappear by 2030
If you will need a job by then, read this carefully:
According to the World Economic Forum Future of Jobs Report 2025, the labor market is not shrinking
It is just changing
By 2030, they report that:
• 170 million jobs will be created
• 92 million will be displaced
• 39% of current skills will change or become outdated
• 6 in 10 workers will need training
The question is not “Will jobs exist?”
It’s: Will your skills still match them?
They list the following as the most in-demand skills for 2030:
1. Analytical Thinking
Still number one.
Problem-solving.
Critical thinking.
Making sense of complex information.
In an AI world, the people who think clearly win.
2. AI and Big Data
Understanding artificial intelligence and data is no longer optional.
You don’t need to build AI models
But you must know how to work with them.
3. Technological Literacy
Technology is everywhere
Those who cannot adapt to new tools will struggle
Those who can will move ahead faster
4. Creative Thinking
Innovation is now a core business skill
Automation handles repetition
Humans create new ideas.
5. Resilience, Flexibility, and Agility
Change is constant.
Can you adapt quickly?
Can you stay calm under uncertainty?
These are learnable skills.
6. Curiosity and Lifelong Learning
Skills are expiring faster
Employers are investing heavily in upskilling because they know one thing:
Learning once is no longer enough
Learning continuously is the new normal
7. Leadership and Social Influence
Collaboration matters more in complex systems.
Communication.
Influence.
Team alignment.
Technical skill gets you in the room.
People skill moves you forward.
8. Systems Thinking
The world is interconnected.
The best professionals understand how parts connect to the whole
Then they design better solutions because of it.
9. Self-awareness
A rising skill for the next decade.
Understand your strengths
Know your weaknesses
Manage your emotions
Align actions with your values
Understand how others see you
Clarity about yourself is power.
Here is the reality, they mention that if the global workforce were 100 people:
• 59 would need training by 2030
• 11 might not receive the training they need
That 11% is the danger zone.
which group will you be in?
The 60% that waits?
Or the ones investing early?
The good news is that researchers get most of these skills while doing their work
The future of work is not about fear.
It is about preparation.
By 2030, nearly 40% of your current skills may need updating
The smart move?
Start before you are forced to
Let me know what you think, I read every email.
See you next Sunday
Jamal
