#70 A solution to edit your manuscripts
step by step tutorial
Hey friends,
One of the reasons Journal Editors reject scientific manuscripts is “poor editing” or “languages issues” or “lack of clarity”
I know that these are not easy to solve when English is not your first language
But these rejection issues can be avoided with proper editing
Some time ago, I shared a post about Editing Services by professionals
And many of you asked me how this works.
So I thought I would share this tutorial on how to use this type of services:
Step-by-step tutorial to boost your manuscript & submission
1) Decide what you need right
Copy Editing: this is the best if your draft is solid but needs polishing. Fixes grammar, formatting, technical accuracy, style, and consistency. Comes with:
Edit Unlimited (120 days): re-edit as many times as needed
Editor Q&A: ask editors for clarification at no cost
Certificate of Editing: proof for journal submission
Substantive Editing: Ideal if you need a deeper, publish-ready review. Improves logic, structure, and flow, plus fixes content gaps. Includes Copy Editing features plus:
Cover letter tailored for journal submission
Edit Unlimited (365 days)
Rejection Shield (365 days): support even after peer review, including responses to reviewers and re-editing revised content
Tip: If your draft isn’t in English, start with the Translation Service (specialized bilingual translators in your subject area).
2) Match with the right expert
Your manuscript is assigned to a subject-area expert.
Editing is only done by native English professional editors (not students), often based in the US/UK
Super-specialization means your paper is matched with the closest expert (e.g., a neurosurgery paper goes to a neurosurgery editor, not just a general medical editor)
The promise from Enago: your paper will never be rejected because of language
3) Prepare your files
Mention your email address
Upload your manuscript
And figures, tables, and references
4) Choose add-on support if needed
Pre-submission peer review: get expert feedback before sending to journals
Journal selection guidance: find the right fit
Help with revisions/rejections: refine based on feedback
Formatting & artwork editing: meet specific journal style guides
Journal submission assistance: streamline the final step
Plagiarism check: ensure originality
Comprehensive publication support packages include Unlimited 365-day resubmission support
5) Submit
You will then get a proposal/quotation within one hour
The price depends on the service you choose, the word count in your document and your delivery date
Once you accept it, the editing work starts
6) Use after-sales support
After edits, review changes and raise questions through Editor Q&A
Use Edit Unlimited for revisions (120 or 365 days depending on service)
With Rejection Shield, resubmissions and reviewer responses are fully supported
Here is an overview of the services in a video format:
