#52 Language Barriers in Research

How to overcome them

Hey friends,

Good and simple communication is very important for sharing science.

Especially when you want to reach people around the world who may speak different languages.

I recently discussed this issue in a Podcast with Enago.

We talked about the challenges that researchers who speak English as a second language (ESL) often face.

In this episode, I share some advice from my own experience.

I spoke about how language, culture, and the tricky parts of English can affect how researchers share their work with others.

Here are the topics covered in this episode:

  • Why using simple language in science writing matters

  • How ESL researchers can get better at writing

  • Tips for sharing research with people from different backgrounds

  • How editing and translation services can help more people understand your work

You can watch it here. Captions are available:

This is all for this week.

Let us know in the comments if you have other suggestions to overcome language issues.

As always, if you need clarification or assistance with your research projects, feel free to reach out to me, and I will respond.

See you next Sunday!
